OUR STORY
The Makani Science sensor is a result of over 10 years of research at the University of California, Irvine by Dr. Michelle Khine. Her vision for a easily accessible monitor for breathing came as a result of an event that involved her baby son who had a collapsed lung. With all the monitors he had on him, nothing was monitoring his breathing sufficiently to detect this serious problem! With co-founder Dr. Michael Chu, the Makani Respiratory Sensor was born. We believe we can make monitoring breathing accessible to everyone.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to improve patient health by making respiratory monitoring more accessible.
Provide better data to healthcare professionals by analyzing breathing patterns of patients and predicting onset of problems.
Make medical procedures safer by being an earlier and more accurate alert for respiratory abnormalities.
Improve patient quality of life with better breathing management in health, wellness and fitness through biofeedback.
